I was thinking about, back in the 80's, when my family would ask me what I wanted for Christmas, and I'd go through the Toys R Us catalog with a magic marker, circling girlie toys on every page.
Here are some commercials for the toys we loved in the 80's.
Hugo Boss
Yoox
Energie
I'm gonna cry! I think I had almost all of these toys or knew someone who did. I've been looking for an old glow worm on ebay, but havent found one yet! Thanks for posting, made my day!!
1OMG WHIP! I feel like a little girl watching these commercials again. I totally forgot about those "Sweet Secrets!" I had all of these toys except the Brook Shields doll. I never knew they had those.
2My mom didd the same thing to my sister and I w/ the Toys R Us circular. We'd circle what we wanted, oh, how I wish I could still do that!
I had the Brooke Shields doll, and I loved it! But then one time I took her in the bathtub with me and her hair got all frizzy when it dried. Boo!
3HAAAA, AND it got all matted RIGHT?!
4I really wish they made the glow worm when I was little...I was sooo scared of the dark.
5oh my gosh Whip, these are great! I totally forgot about Popples and Kid Sister (the girl version of My Buddy).... man, Christmas is so much more fun when you're a kid...
6oooooooooooooooooooh i love all of these toys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! memories....at the corner of my mind...............
7I just want to watch these over and over!
8I love these!!! I don't remember the Brooke Shields doll, though
9Oh, and I had the Laura Ashley comforter in the Pound Puppy commercial!!!
I used to go through the Sears AND JCPenney catalogues and pick out what I wanted.......what fun.
I always wanted the Brooke Shields doll, and my best friends' big sister had the Donnie and Marie dolls, I sooooo wanted those, but they didn't make them anymore.
I always folded down the pages of the sears/penneys catalogs. Wish Book? Wasn't one of them called that?
My sister or I had all of these toys! She still sleeps with a GloBaby, even at 23. She has gone through 3 of them. We bought all we could find on ebay!
10I had the Donny and Marie dolls, too. AND the Cher doll!
11Man, I covet your dolls, whip.
12I used to have a glow worm. I always wanted a Pound Puppy and a Strawberry Shortcake doll. I did have a Cabbage Patch Kid (so did my sister). I also did have a My Little Pony.
They just don't make toys for girls like they used to. I'll die before I purchase a Bratz doll for any of my family's girl-children. I hope that fad dies it's natural death before I have kids.
13Oh man! I almost cry!!
14I can't believe I forgot all about this commercials... I seriously think we had better toys back then compare to now... Don't you guys think so??
I like the Strawberry Shortcake, Teddy Ruxpin and Gloworm!
15As soon as I saw this topic I thought, "My Buddy"!!! Thank you for having that in the commercials! I lurve My Buddy. I still sing that song to this day. I think I'm gonna have to add that to my MySpace page.
16OMG - LOVE IT!!!!
17I forgot about Sweet Secrets! I loved them!
